If you knit a boy a sweater…

…soon he will ask for a scarf! (Readers to young children may recognize the “If you give a moose a muffin” reference…)

Boy 1 recently said “Mom, can your next knitting project be a scarf? For me?”

And you KNOW the answer to that question: “What color?”

swish dkI chose Knit Picks Swish DK because it’s superwash and sturdy, both good choices for the young. He chose this color, which is called Amethyst Heather. I pulled up some scarf patterns in Ravelry, and he chose His (Birthday) Scarf (free download). It’s a simple basketweave design. I’m one ball in:P1010760I got about 15” out of the first ball, and I only bought 3. I think I need a bit more so I ordered a 4th today.

The back side isn’t as pretty, but it’s not ugly, either:

P1010761This project isn’t super stimulating but it’ll do, especially since my CustomFit attempts kind of fizzled out. (I ordered more single balls for swatching when I ordered the extra scarf yarn.)

It’s not cold enough for wearing scarves yet, but soon it will be!

  1. Gorgeous color -- and a really cool design. Boy 1 has good taste!

  2. Saw your blog on the knitpicks comment board (what you would do with the palette yarn) and had to stop by. I really like the back side of the boy's scarf (even if it isn't as crisp and quite as pretty as the front!)
