Yarn Love

Kristina brought an early birthday gift when she visited this past weekend... more roving for my growing stash! This beauty is from Yarn Love (what a great name for a yarn company). It's their Scarlett O'Hara Roving, 60% merino/40% bamboo, 4 oz of "spinner's top" in colorway "Blue Plate Special."

You'll see that Yarn Love names all their yarns for famous women from literature and history, like Elizabeth Bennet, Juliet, and so on. But this... this is top. I can call it anything I want!

4 oz ought to be plenty to make yarn for a pair of socks (the usual 100 grams is about 3.5 oz) - providing I can spin yarn that fine. We shall see. This is the first bamboo I've encountered in roving, and I can't wait to try it. It's also the first braided roving for me. Shouldn't make a difference, but it's intriguing.

I have knit several pairs of socks with bamboo fiber in them, and we like them. The bamboo makes a sock that breathes more and feels cooler than a 100% wool sock. Bamboo blend sock yarn is a great choice for spring/summer socks. These colors will be perfect for spring.

Thanks for the (yarn) love, Kristina!

  1. Great colors to start building up your "new" stash obsession! I love the naming scheme, that's a neat idea!

  2. I love the look of braids and it just seems like they store much easier. That probably isn't true but it's the way I'm justifying buying so many of them recently! :)
