These socks look very springy, but today’s weather is anything but – highs in the 40s and rainy. We need the rain so I won’t complain. I’ve started washing my wool sweaters for off-season storage but they’re not all done yet, so I can break out wool again if I need to! Luckily, I took these photos yesterday, before the rain blew in.
These are plain vanilla socks in Knit Picks Felici yarn (fingering weight) in the colorway “Matador” (now discontinued – I’m not sure how long it has been in my stash). I love the tonal look – but it was REALLY hard to find the color changes between some of these stripes. So hard, in fact, that I gave up on making these socks identical. Did you notice that they are fraternal? It’s most obvious when you look at the heels: Because my Felici socks have seemed a bit on the baggy side recently, I knit this over 60 stitches (I had been doing 64 before) and indeed, they fit S1’s feet very nicely. I worked my usual afterthought heel. A nifty thing about this colorway is that it goes equally well with red and orange.
Matching both red and orange is hard. But this does it, that's for sure. Muy bueno.
