Catching up

Over the break, I…

Taught my niece to finger knit (thanks to KH who taught me):IMG_0541Then Boy 2 wanted to finger knit, and Boy 1 wanted to spool knit. We have lots of this stuff festooned about the house now:IMG_0705 I finished the sleeves on Boy 1’s sweater (I didn’t take the whole thing with me – just the sleeves – very portable):IMG_0508 I started some socks, too.

We visited Natural Bridge Caverns and saw some incredibly cool cave formations:IMG_0663I saw Steven’s 50 Christmas balls in person. They are LOVELY.IMG_0673Steven and I went to his Saturday morning knitting group, where I laughed a lot but took no pictures. They meet at AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT where they bring a SPECIAL POT OF COFFEE JUST FOR KNITTERS so they don’t even have to get up for refills. I had a delicious eggy, cheesey, spinachy sandwich on focaccia bread and about 9 cups of coffee. Delish.

Steven and I went to Hill Country Weavers in Austin and ended up getting the same duo of yarns with which to knit Spectra:IMG_0700 The solid is Yarn Carnival High Wire 3-ply (100% superwash merino, fingering weight) and the gradient is Freia Fingering.

I also got Shelter to make a hat for me (I’ll do the November Leaves pattern that I’ve already made for S1):IMG_0701 It is really, really cold here and I need a hat, so this may happen very soon.

I met up with some college friends I hadn’t seen in 5+ years:

NYE reunion

I did some other things that weren’t as well documented in photos, too. But these are the fiber-y highlights. I guess the cave isn’t fiber-y… but it was so cool.

I have so much knitting to do!
