Webby things you might like…

This week, KnittingRyanG has brought more giggles to me and S1 than you might expect.  Like this:

HEY GIRL. I DON'T THINK YARN BOUGHT WHILE ON VACATION COUNTS AS STASH EITHER. LET'S MAKE A LIST OF PLACES TO VISIT WHILE WE'RE AT YOUR MOM'S

I realize I’m incredibly behind in getting these pop culture references (Inside Higher Ed noticed before I did), but apparently there are a bunch of these (like the library one, Biostatistics Ryan Gosling, Feminist Ryan Gosling, and Medieval History Ryan Gosling).  I know some librarians read and I’m going on record that the knitting one is WAY funnier than the library one.  If you use Twitter, you might want to follow “him.”  I’d love to know who’s writing those tweets.

And now, for a total change in direction, I have a video you might like.  In Sheep’s Clothing is from 1932 and the National Library of Scotland has digitized it.  It’s a silent film but it has some of those explanatory headers every so often.  It shows sheep being herded into an enclosure and getting “rooed” (the wool is plucked off rather than shorn), as well as spinners making yarn and knitting.  10 minutes of enlightening relaxation, at a pace that doesn’t jack you up like a lot of YouTube videos do.  I recommend it.

  1. The archives Ryan Gosling is pretty good, too!

Thanks for the sheep video link. I'm gonna watch it right now!
